As we were completing our quarry hike, we began to hear thunder in the distance.   Checking the radar, we could see storms heading our way from the west, although it looked like the worst of it would bypass us.   We had discussed visiting one more quarry, but decided it would be best to head back to our vehicle. Back at the car, we drove down to Old Granite Pier just before it started to rain.   The thunder clouds to our south were darkly foreboding, but fortunately the main storm did slip by us, and all we got was a little rain.

I'd have been pretty uncomfortable if I was out in a boat and saw this heading my way!

Shortly afterwards, a more serene view, from Plum Cove Beach We took the back way home, through Lanesville and Annisquam.
