The Towns County Historical Society sponsored a clean-up work day at the old Burch Cemetery (Cemetery Island) on Lake Chatuge.   We had a great turn out and accomplished a lot, including the installation of a new cemetery sign.

With the coming of Lake Chatuge in 1941, the TVA relocated over 330 graves from this cemetery.   Families chose to leave 30 graves here in their original location.   We located and marked all 30 of those graves.
