Ruins of an old Fannin Co., GA Community

Sheldon and I explored the remains of the former community of Craytonia.
We drove along a rutted FS road, followed by a mile hike, to reach the site.

The lighting was horrible for shooting ruins in a woodland setting, so these
images are just placeholders until I can return and get some better shots.

Craytonia
At the center of this late 1800s community was the two-story Payne
house, which reportedly served as an inn along the old settlers road.
Standing at the wooded site now, it's hard to reconcile the position of these buildings.

Bricks
Little remains of the Payne house and associated structures (GA02X13).
Most of the bricks from the chimneys were hauled off long ago.

The Ingram place (GA02X18) also had double brick chimneys,
and most of the bricks here were also hauled away.

Later on, we stopped by the site of old CCC Camp F-8 Wilscot (Blue Ridge).

Fountain
This stone structure appears to have been a fountain of some sort.
Surprisingly, we didn't find much more evidence of the old CCC camp.

There are at least three more Craytonian home sites that we did not find, so,
combined with the bad photo conditions, a return trip is definitely in order.
