Coming down the mountain as I was leaving Coweeta, I had to hit the
brakes as I encountered this kinked guy stretched across the road.

The kinking is a defensive "camouflage" position these snakes adopt to make themselves look like a tree
branch-limb on the ground.   I think it might be more effective in the woods than on this gravel road!

I tried to catch the Three Birds Orchids in bloom, but missed them by a day or two.
They open fully for only one day, all together as a group.
