| I'd been trying to catch this species in bloom on Brasstown Bald since the first of June, but they were still in bud at that high elevation. |

| Veratrum viride (known as False Hellebore, Indian Poke, Corn-lily, etc.) It was on the way out, but I was still able to find a few nice flowers. |

| Veratrum parviflorum (known as Appalachian Bunchflower, Small-flowered Hellebore, etc.) was beginning to bloom, but like the V. viride, I was able to find a few open flowers. |
