(Neottia smallii, formerly Listera smallii)

Liparis_smallii
I'd been trying to catch this species in bloom on Brasstown Bald since
the first of June, but they were still in bud at that high elevation.

It was on the way out, but I was still able to find a few nice flowers.

Veratrum_parviflorum
Veratrum parviflorum (known as Appalachian Bunchflower,
Small-flowered Hellebore, etc.) was beginning to bloom,
but like the V. viride, I was able to find a few open flowers.

Spider
Orb Weaver (Araneus nordmanni)
I almost walked through this large (1 inch body) spider's web.
With its web damaged, it seemed to hunker down and play dead.
