| Pogonias can be confused with the Indian Cucumber Root (Medeola virginiana), which is also found here, having a similar whorl of leaves. (In fact, the Cucumber Root shares the root of its genus name, Medeola, with the Small Pogonia's specific epithet, medeoloides.) |
