Uncommon finds at a friend's property...
I'd not seen this orchid species before, so it was a treat to find a dozen plants blooming.

Indian_Cucumber_Root
Pogonias can be confused with the Indian Cucumber Root (Medeola
virginiana)
, which is also found here, having a similar whorl of leaves.
(In fact, the Cucumber Root shares the root of its genus name,
Medeola, with the Small Pogonia's specific epithet, medeoloides.)



Ladys_Slipper
Pink Lady's Slippers (Cypripedium acaule) are also abundant here
