Ruins of the Rabun Colony Club
On the grounds of The Hambidge Center, Rabun Co., GA

The Rabun Colony Club consisted of a group of well-to-do Atlantans who operated a hunting and fishing club in
Rabun County in the early part of the 20th century.   They had built a large house of creek rocks and constructed
the first floor walls for a much larger lodge, before the combined circumstances of World War I and the breeching
of their lake dam forced them to abandon their plans.   The property was sold to the Latimer family in 1918, and
subsequently to Mary Hambidge in 1934.   Today, the ruins are within the campus of The Hambidge Center.
